The color experts at Valspar looked not only to lifestyle trends, but also to the outdoors to create the 2020 palette. According to Valspar, consumers are craving colors found in nature that are both subdued and livable. These neutrals are perfect for any room and all types of homes.

"Earth's prescription for the chaotic, busy lives we all live is to bring the tranquility of nature and the outdoor world into the home. That's exactly what we set out to accomplish when forecasting the 2020 Colors of the Year," says Sue Kim, Valspar Color Marketing Manager at Sherwin-Williams.

Valspar says that each of its 12 trending hues is designed to cultivate a safe, serene space, bringing joy and comfort to the home:

Winter Calm – A soothing and warm “griege” that brings a comforting sophistication to a space.
Mint Whisper – This crisp, minty hue brings a sense of peace and positivity indoors.
Canyon Earth – An elegant, peachy hue reminiscent of the desert, serves as nature's prescription for less stress.
Grey Brook – A pale bluish gray that works well with classic wood tones.
Tempered Sage – Embrace a calming balance with this fresh take on a lime green.
Desert Fortress – A comforting, neutral tone that creates a blank canvas to build upon.
Secluded Garden – A vibrant jewel-tone green that adds a touch of glamour to a room.
Bombay Pink – A mature pink that creates an elegant look when paired with gold accents.
Pale Powder – A warm, dusty apricot.
Utterly Blue – A tranquil blue that pairs well with white and chrome.
Crushed Out – This hushed blush with a slight tint of pink brings a fresh new take on off-white.
